Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician performs routine and light preventive maintenance, supports production and shipping operations, and carries out janitorial and basic facility upkeep tasks within a machine shop environment. This role helps ensure equipment reliability, a clean and safe workplace, and smooth day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the maintenance and facilities team with daily maintenance and facility support tasks.
  • Support production and shipping needs, including occasional overtime or schedule changes when required.
  • Conduct regular facility walk-throughs to identify issues and track supply and material needs.
  • Notify management promptly of needed repairs, safety concerns, or system issues.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks such as painting, basic plumbing, and light electrical work.
  • Complete basic carpentry tasks to support facility upkeep and small repairs.
  • Perform weekly and monthly preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Assist with minor maintenance and upkeep of forging presses and furnaces.
  • Support scrap recovery and material handling activities to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Operate a forklift occasionally to move materials and equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area at all times.
  • Follow all safety procedures, company standards, and maintenance best practices.
  • Document maintenance activities, work performed, and shift updates accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay current with safety practices and maintenance procedures.
  • Cross-train in other departments as needed to support broader operational needs.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic mechanical repairs.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial or production equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Capability to perform minor painting, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
  • Comfort working in an industrial maintenance or machine shop environment.
  • Ability to operate a forklift occasionally, following safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail when conducting facility walk-throughs and documenting work.
  • Willingness to support production needs, including overtime or schedule changes when required.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and company standards.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a maintenance technician, maintenance helper, or in industrial maintenance.
  • Familiarity with forging press and furnace maintenance or similar heavy equipment.
  • Experience in scrap recovery and material handling within a production environment.
  • Ability to cross-train and support multiple departments.
  • Strong communication skills to report issues and provide clear shift updates.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and meetings to enhance skills.
