Installation Technician
Position Summary
Plan, coordinate and perform audio and visual equipment maintenance operations within assigned area. Ensure uninterrupted hospital audio and visual equipment operations by promoting preventive and predictive maintenance, lead and/or guide staff as required. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and dismantle AV equipment like microphones, speakers, video cameras, projectors, and paging systems; includes tasks like running cables, connecting systems, and conducting pre-event tests, as well as Data and Coax cable termination.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment to ensure optimal performance; includes managing inventory and performing routine maintenance.
- Monitor and adjust audio, video, and lighting during live events to ensure quality and a seamless experience for the audience; often requires working under pressure and coordinating with other personnel.
- Consult with clients to determine their AV requirements and provide technical support during events; may include training staff or clients on how to use the equipment properly.
- Design and implement AV systems for new or existing spaces, ensuring all components integrate correctly.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively, often on the spot.
- Maintain a keen eye for image and sound quality to ensure professional, high-quality output.
Education
- Essential:
High School or GED Equivalent. - Nonessential:
Vocational or Technical training.
Experience
- Essential: 1 year of directly related experience.
Credentials
- Essential:
Valid New Mexico Driver's License. - Essential: UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit within 60 days.
Physical Conditions
Medium Work:
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or >10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demands exceed those for Light Work.
Working Conditions
- Minor hazards: physical risks, dirt, dust, fumes, noise.
- May require travel to various work sites.
- May require on-call duties.
- May require work on ladders or scaffolding.
- Subject to random alcohol and substance testing.
