Provide ground, facility, labor and airfield maintenance duties for the airport and its facilities working through the Airfield Maintenance Division. Duties include repair of airport equipment, surrounding property, and facilities; operate pavement maintenance equipment to repair airfield surfaces and perform a variety of maintenance tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL AND SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Perform general Airfield maintenance activities at the airport including cleaning and maintaining airport parking lots, facilities, and grounds.
- Maintain airport runways and taxiways and related areas and facilities; perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks and minor repairs of airport equipment, parking lots, facilities, and grounds.
- Operate trucks, tractors and other airport equipment and vehicles; maintain and inspect equipment and vehicles for repair and maintenance needs.
- Operate and perform routine and minor maintenance of power-driven cleaning and snow removal equipment; assist technicians with equipment repair projects.
- Mow landscaped areas and medians around runways, taxiways and roads; maintain and repair equipment; to include minor repairs to motorized equipment including weed trimmers and blowers.
- Perform grounds maintenance labor activities to include minor maintenance and repairs to airfield, facilities, and grounds.
- Perform general building janitorial and custodial duties; sweep, mop, buff floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets; clean windows, mirrors, restrooms and meeting rooms.
- Perform traffic control duties to maintain traffic flow and safe job site environment.
- Perform minor concrete and asphalt repairs; basic street repair tasks including asphalt patching.
- Drive vehicles with trailer in tow to transport equipment, materials, tools to and from job sites.
- Assist with snow removal and de-icing of airport ramp and streets using snowplows, blowers, and sand spreaders as assigned.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; maintain effective communications with communications tower and other required airport safety communication divisions and areas.
Supplemental Functions
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Respond to airfield ground emergencies as requested.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; and Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance, grounds maintenance, street maintenance, construction, or paving.
Additional Requirements- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
- Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
- Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.
Airfield environment; work around construction equipment and aircraft; exposure to noise, and inclement weather conditions.
PhysicalEssential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for heavy, moderate or light lifting; walking standing or sitting for prolonged periods; and operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
