Maintenance Worker, Water Distribution
Annual Salary Range: $24,960.00 - $29,952.00 Grade: 13
The City of Alexandria is seeking professional individuals to begin a career in the Water Distribution Department, located in the heart of Central Louisiana, to perform unskilled, manual work functions associated with construction, maintenance, landscaping, and grounds-keeping of city infrastructure, utilities, facilities, and property.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs manual work functions associated with routine maintenance and upkeep of public grounds and facilities:mows lawns; trims and edges grass; blows leaves from walkways; plants, prunes, and maintains plants, trees and shrubs; spreads mulch; rakes leaves; clears debris; and performs related tasks.
- Transports, loads and unloads various materials and equipment used in projects; stock work trucks with needed supplies and equipment.
- Responds to emergency calls during inclement weather or other emergency situations.
- Utilizes precautionary safety equipment and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
- Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking fuel and fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, and previous work experience is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification. May be required to obtain Flagging certification.
Work Hours: 40 hours per week; may work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
