Head Custodian

Voyager Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and community members. This position involves intermediate-level skilled work, including facility maintenance, minor repairs, HVAC oversight, event support, and supervision of custodial staff.

• Operate and monitor building systems including HVAC, door security, lighting controls, alarms, and automated building controls.
• Maintain cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; perform emergency cleanups.
• Conduct minor maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical (light and ballast replacements), and basic carpentry.
• Ensure boiler and cooling systems are functioning efficiently; report issues and adjust settings as needed.
• Provide direction to custodial staff and coordinate with contractors on maintenance tasks.
• Assist with snow and ice removal as needed.
• Oversee facility usage for school and community events, including furniture/equipment setup and takedown.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance materials.
• Keep custodial rooms clean, safe, and organized.
• Interact with facility users to ensure safety and appropriate use of school property.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in custodial or mechanical maintenance preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to obtain a Boilers License within 6 months of hire.
• Valid driver s license required.
