Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Shop Supervisor is responsible for supporting and overseeing the daily operations of the shop floor and service lane. Primarily supervising repairs on vehicles and equipment, managing employees engaged in maintenance tasks, scheduling staff, and providing coaching, guidance, and disciplinary action as necessary. Additionally, this role entails managing work orders, controlling workflow for scheduled and non‑scheduled repairs, and confirming parts usage.

Proficient in reading and interpreting vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and service procedure manuals, uses technology for diagnostics, and supports vehicle testing and repair.

Overall, this position ensures that DASH maintains the highest quality of repair work and vehicle maintenance of the ATC fleet, and employees are performing their work safely, accurately, and efficiently while championing a positive and inclusive work environment. The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $110,000 annually.

Responsibilities
  • Supports and manages day‑to‑day operations of the maintenance shop and service lane ensuring that work orders, repairs, vehicle fueling, and cleaning are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Supervises mechanics, service workers, and cleaners to ensure vehicle availability, confirms work orders and repairs are completed, and that vehicle records are properly documented.
  • Leads the operational response for major service disruptions and events including vehicle breakdowns, accidents, incidents, and ensures rapid and efficient responses while maintaining consistent service.
  • Oversees the repair of vehicles including diagnosing problems, assigning work orders to mechanics, and ensuring the progress and timely completion of work orders.
  • Coordinates with vendors for work performed on and off‑site and ensures vendor work is completed within time constraints, accurately, and documented in vehicle records.
  • Addresses employee issues including policy violations and ensures proper incident documentation, escalates complex issues and disciplines the Maintenance Manager in consultation with Human Resources.
  • Maintains supporting documentation and provides constructive feedback to the Maintenance Manager for evaluations and annual reviews of maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures shop floor, maintenance bays, garage, service lane, and all storage areas are clean, organized, and in compliance with OSHA regulations and Company standards.
  • Utilizes software, technology, schematics, repair manuals, hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and ancillary shop equipment for work orders, inspections, and preventative maintenance while following established OEM procedures.
  • Assists technicians with vehicle test drives for verification of successful completion of vehicle maintenance.
  • Works with the Parts Department on request for required parts for vehicle maintenance.
  • Monitors and supports mechanics, service workers, and cleaners with work orders, inspections, preventative maintenance, service lane functions, etc.
  • Maintains proper licensing, certifications, and related requirements for the operation of all types of DASH vehicles.
Qualifications Technical Skills
  • Knowledgeable in fixed transit vehicle operations, services, and technology.
  • Strong understanding of diesel and gasoline equipment repair procedures.
  • Familiar with general transit industry best practices and trends.
  • Proficient in fleet maintenance and service tracking software (Fleetio, Track It, etc.).
  • Comfortable with troubleshooting software related to fleet maintenance.
  • Proficient with computers, hardware, and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
Administrative Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll, timekeeping systems, and employment regulations.
  • Proficient with general office equipment (printers, copiers, phones).
Management and Communication Skills
  • Ability to interpret and enforce company policies, procedures, and CBA.
  • Ability to analyze data and strong communication skills.
