lsu alexandria is seeking a motivated applicant for the position of custodian 2.

six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

examples of work:

- cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
- empties and decontaminates trash containers.
- moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
- mixes or blends cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
- strips, cleans, and polishes floors using industrial-grade machines.
- follows procedures for disposing of infectious waste.
- maintains custodial equipment; reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
- sets up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions as assigned.
- washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
- operates wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas.
- strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
- may perform grounds work by picking up trash, watering plants, light mowing, weed trimming, etc.

general: serves on a custodial crew providing services to academic and administrative buildings with over 2,500 students and 220 faculty and staff. These services are performed in a variety of nontraditional environments including specialized computer systems, laboratories, libraries, special exhibits/collections, studios, shops, and numerous other specialized technical areas. Performs more complex tasks requiring higher skill levels than those performed by a custodian 1.
high degree of public contact and interaction with faculty, staff, and students. Frequent contacts with general public through support provided for continuing education programs, seminars, institutes, workshops, and conferences. Requires a working knowledge of the campus intra structure, programs and services. Requires participation in special maintenance, safety, and other training programs.
quality of service provided impacts the university's contractual agreement through private grants, federal programs, other educational and research institutions and services provided on a for fee basis.…
