Provide maintenance support to the City's Streets Department by operating heavy equipment, patrolling City streets, identifying problematic roadways, determining repair methods, retrieving equipment, filling potholes, sealing cracks, repairing sidewalks, removing debris, assisting other departments, completing special projects, and interfacing with City employees and citizens. No direction to other employees.
Essential Functions- Operate heavy equipment for street maintenance, observe cracks, prepare crack seal machine, insert tar, heat hoses, blow cracks, fill with tar, document work.
- Repair potholes and other damage: use motor vehicles, observe hazards, retrieve equipment, cut around potholes with saw, operate roller, tack edges, fill with mix, back drag with loader, rake area, compact mix, document.
- Maintain sidewalks by identifying areas, breaking sidewalks, setting forms, filling with concrete, installing rebar, operating equipment, documenting.
- Patrol and clear streets of litter and debris, collect from various locations, store debris, transport to collection facilities, maintain log, document.
- Assist other departments as needed:
Parks and Recreation, Drainage, Water & Sewer; complete irrigation repair, signs, special projects, document.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; no prior relevant work experience.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain a Texas Class A Driver’s License (CDL
A) within twelve (12) months from hire.
Supervision Exercised: Direct supervision includes progress reviews and upon completion of each assignment; autonomy at task level; work subject to policies and guidelines.
