Equipment Operator A – Event Services
The Equipment Operator A for Event Services with the Department of Agriculture plays a key part in keeping the Farm Show Complex running smoothly. This role offers a fast‑paced, hands‑on work environment where your skills make a direct impact on preparing the complex for exciting events and supporting daily operations that keep everything moving. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports events and maintains the Farm Show Complex through equipment operation and hands‑on work. It provides a steady pace, varied responsibilities, and daily opportunities to contribute to the success of the facility.
- Equipment Operation:
Operate a wide range of machinery such as loaders, forklifts, tractors, lifts, sweepers, scrubbers, and snow removal equipment - Event Setup Support:
Assist in hauling, placing, setting up, and tearing down furniture, equipment, barriers, pens, stages, and other items for events - Facility Care:
Maintain buildings and grounds by sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, disinfecting surfaces, and performing general custodial work - Material Handling:
Move, load, and unload supplies such as straw, hay, feed, scrap materials, and deliveries throughout the complex - Maintenance Assistance:
Perform minor repairs, conduct preventative maintenance checks, and identify equipment defects during daily operation - General Labor:
Help clean livestock areas, spread materials, remove debris, shovel snow, and support additional manual tasks as assigned
- Permanent, part‑time employment
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday – Wednesday - Position is essential; required to report to work during emergencies and office closings
- No telework option
- Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases
- Free on‑site parking
- Minimum of six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses, or single‑chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 lbs or more; or equivalent combination of experience and training
- Valid Class C Pennsylvania driver’s license
- Experience working around animals and livestock and in large‑scale public events (preferred)
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
