Position Put your skills to work and help keep Alliance looking great! Perform maintenance work in our community parks and open spaces, operate a variety of equipment to repair and maintain fences, sprinklers, buildings, parks, cemetery, roadways and other public facilities. The individual hired for this position will assist in noxious weed and insect control throughout the community.
Location and Hours This outdoor position takes place throughout Alliance in all types of weather at all City facilities Monday through Friday as scheduled between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as well as rotating on-call hours. May be required to work outside normal business hours during certain seasonal periods, such as snow removal and other seasonal events.
About The Position Type This position is full-time and benefit-earning. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance as well as leave accrual, 9 paid holidays and participation in a matching retirement plan. Employees also receive 3 floating holidays per year. Qualifying employees enrolled in the medical plan are also eligible for up to $1680/year in City HSA contributions. Employees who waive the medical plan are eligible for an in-lieu-of benefit of $350/month.

In this Position, you Will
- Mow and maintain parks, baseball fields, recreational facilities, and cemetery.
- Plant and trim grass, trees, shrubs, flowers; seed and fertilize parks and perform weed control.
- Clean, setup equipment, and maintain ball fields, playground equipment, fountains and restrooms.
- Maintain and assist with sprinkler system repairs, installation, drainage systems and related infrastructure.
- May assist in construction of new facilities, including grading, ground clearing, digging and foundation work.
Need to Have
- Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with some ground maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of equipment and methods used in building and ground maintenance.
Necessary Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Must possess a valid Nebraska state driver’s license within two (2) months of hire; may be required to obtain CDL. Ability to receive noxious weed control certifications and apply such chemicals. Preferred candidate will have knowledge of equipment used to do minor repairs and understanding of irrigation systems. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods of time.
