HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Basic Function Performs preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and works outside to maintain the Hospital grounds and other hospital owned buildings.
Job Duties- Perform building maintenance repairs, renovations and modifications as needed.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all equipment that is owned by the hospital that is not under warranty, contracts, or listed as clinical equipment.
- Maintains good communication and professional relations between Facilities Management and all other departments.
- All other duties deemed as a necessary function of this position by the director of Facilities Management.
- Responsible for checking e-mails and online learning assignments on a regular basis.
- Greet customers, visitors, and Colleagues immediately with a smile, warm greeting, and introduction, calling them by name if possible.

Colleague has been instructed in providing customer service and on interacting with age groups as related to the department's general client population: including use of appropriate interventions, communication and skills to match the age and/or abilities of the patient/family.
Machines / Tools / Equipment UsedMust have a demonstrable understanding of power tools and testing equipment. Must have working understanding of major environmental support equipment such as boilers, generators, air compressors, air handlers, air conditioning systems and heating systems.
Education, Training And ExperienceHigh school graduate or equivalent. At least five years in this field or a similar field where the same area of skills were applied. Knowledge of electrical and HVAC is preferred.
Must be at least age of 21 years of age and have a minimum of two years licensed driving experience to be a driver for hospital owned vehicles.
Must be computer literate to complete task(s) as required such as Aims System (Hospital Support Software), Halogen (performance appraisal system) Relias (education system), ability to retrieve e-mails, complete online enrollment for health insurance/benefits and any other programs as assigned
Skills RequiredMust have a working knowledge in several areas of basic engineering, electricity, electronics, plumbing, medical gases, carpentry rough/finish, welding, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, blueprint reading, and schematic reading.

- Must be able to work well with others and in areas of close proximity of patients.
- Well-groomed with good personal hygiene.
- Must be able to work alone and as a team member with continued satisfactory results.

- Must be able to carry 20-25 lbs. around all day (tools).
- Must be able to do four (4) flights of stairs (in an emergency).
- Must be able to stand, bend, and walk for 7.5 hours.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs routinely.
