Monday – Friday 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Salary: $31,200 - $35,400 per annum (approximately $15 - $17.01 per hour)

The Building Services Department seeks a Custodian I to provide custodial care for Georgia State University facilities. The role includes cleaning, floor care, restroom service, set‑up and emergency cleanup duties.

• Sweep, dust, mop, scrub, strip, restore, buff, and wax floors; vacuums.
• Perform other duties required to maintain cleanliness of campus floors.
• Remove trash, clean counters, equipment, and furnishings.
• Maintain cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, and other assigned work areas.
• Cleans and restocks restrooms.
• Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and public areas.
• Handle emergency clean‑ups as needed.
• Bend, twist, reach overhead, push and pull floor equipment, large trash barrels, and lift full trash bags weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Maintain normal dexterity required for tasks.
• Use cleaning chemicals daily and work around potentially hazardous materials in some laboratories.

• Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months of experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting preferred.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
• Preferred Requirements:
  • Ability to lift approximately 30-50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures.
