Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join a non-profit organization based in Alsip, Illinois. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful work while sharpening your accounting skills. This is a Contract to permanent role, offering a pathway to a long-term career within the organization.

Responsibilities:

- Perform accurate bank reconciliations to ensure financial records are up-to-date and error-free.

- Maintain and update the general ledger with precise entries to reflect organizational financial activities.

- Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.

- Assist in the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial data.

- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.

- Collaborate with the team to support fund accounting processes specific to non-profit requirements.

- Provide detailed financial reports and insights to aid decision-making within the organization.

- Ensure adherence to accounting regulations and internal controls in all financial operations.

- Support the Controller and other team members in achieving departmental goals.

The salary range for this position is $24/hr. to $25/hr benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.

- Proficiency in fund accounting principles and practices.

- Strong skills in bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger management.

- Experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting.

- Ability to perform balance sheet account reconciliations with high attention to detail.

- Familiarity with accounting software and systems used in non-profit organizations.

- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving financial discrepancies.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
