Operations Manager
Job Overview
Oversees all maintenance operations, including contractor work, repairs, preventive maintenance, and new equipment installations. Leads a three‑shift maintenance team, managing inventory, parts storage, and the work‑order system to ensure reliable, cost‑effective plant performance. Requires a mechanical and electrical background and a collaborative, team‑focused approach.
Key Responsibilities- Implement maintenance and engineering strategies to ensure operational reliability and maximum asset availability.
- Accountable for key maintenance performance metrics, including work order completion and machine reliability.
- Support equipment feasibility studies and make recommendations for investment; implement capital expenditure projects and monitor payback expectations.
- Collaborate with operations leaders to develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.
- Execute the annual financial plan and monitor performance within the planned budget.
- Design, develop, and manage capital projects to enhance efficiencies, improve performance, and meet growth plans, including defining scope of work, budget, schedule, and responsibilities.
- Develop and execute the site’s preventive maintenance program.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to implement capital investment projects, including supplier selection, scheduling coordination, new equipment acquisition, and installation.
- Assure compliance with the company’s EAM platform and ensure all tasks are performed safely, in compliance with all company, local, state, and federal requirements.
- Provide guidance on staffing, training, employee relations, and performance management to enhance the salaried and hourly production team.
- Interact with key stakeholders to provide technical support and resolve equipment reliability issues.
- Maintain industry, professional, and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing professional publications.
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree desired. Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of safety and protection of workers, environment, and site regulations.
- Knowledge of day‑to‑day and strategic operational requirements and management of a manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of the physical environment and full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of tools and techniques for preventing and addressing theft of assets, information, vandalism, sabotage, and other threats to a manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and logistics equipment used in packaging and manufacturing, including its safe usage, maintenance, and storage.
- Knowledge of technologies and applications used in manufacturing products and in the optimization of manufacturing processes.
Primarily works in a production and/or warehouse setting with time also spent in an office setting. Frequent walking and standing required. Occasional travel required. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Compensation & BenefitsThe expected salary range for this position is $94,000 - $118,000 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan and for a full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; basic term life, AD&D, short‑ and long‑term disability; EAP; 401(k) retirement savings plan; PTO and paid holidays.
