The Load Planner/Dispatcher is a full‑time role based in Alsip, IL. This role is responsible for coordinating daily freight movements, planning optimal loads, and assigning drivers to routes in alignment with customer requirements and company policies. Day‑to‑day tasks include monitoring schedules, tracking shipments, updating dispatch systems, and communicating proactively with drivers and customers regarding load status, delays, and changes. The Load Planner/Dispatcher will analyze capacity, timelines, and costs to maximize equipment utilization and on‑time delivery performance.
The role also involves resolving issues in real time, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth and compliant logistics operations.
- Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and planning abilities to design efficient routes, balance capacity, and respond to changing conditions.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and customer service skills to interact with drivers, internal teams, and customers in a professional and timely manner.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of supply chain management and freight operations to understand industry practices, regulations, and performance metrics.
- Relevant experience in dispatch, load planning, or transportation logistics is beneficial, particularly in truckload or LTL environments.
- Proficiency with dispatch or TMS software, spreadsheets, and basic office applications is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced setting, prioritize multiple tasks, and make sound decisions under time pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in logistics, business, or a related field is an advantage.
