About the Opportunity
This position is responsible for maintaining, controlling, and operating vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machines and equipment used in the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities- Perform startup checks at the beginning of each shift.
- Set up, operate, and test VFFS machines before and during production; log results electronically by hour against efficiency targets.
- Ensure all partial pallets, bags, and containers are available and accessible.
- Conduct front‑line preventative maintenance and routine adjustments/calibrations on each VFFS machine.
- Monitor product to be packaged and ensure quality standards are met according to work instructions.
- Set up (assemble/disassemble), change over, operate, monitor, and adjust equipment to meet finished pouch quality specifications and production requirements.
- Disassemble, clean, and sanitize packaging equipment with designated chemicals following documented safety procedures.
- Adhere to GMP, sanitary, food safety, and standard work procedures to prevent cross‑contamination.
- Use lockout procedures when cleaning or adjusting equipment that may expose employees to injury.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment failures; perform part replacement and minor maintenance as needed.
- Report any required equipment repair or maintenance.
- Navigate SAP and log material and packaging data according to production instructions.
- Maintain a clean work area, cleaning machines before and after each shift.
- High School Diploma desired.
- At least 3 years in a manufacturing position.
- At least 3 years in a machine operator position.
- Mechanical and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to interpret written and oral instructions.
- Ability to troubleshoot VFFS bagger problems.
- Ability to operate two baggers simultaneously.
- Understanding of food standards and allergens as related to machine operations.
- Ability to produce at a high level and to be proactive.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage required results with plant management.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan ahead.
- Proficiency with computer functions relevant to the job.
Work is conducted in a fast‑paced production warehouse. Key physical demands include:
- Standing and walking throughout a shift.
- Standing for long periods during production runs.
- Bending to load pallets.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds, moving items short distances, and reaching below shoulder level.
- Pushing, pulling, and climbing ladders or stairs.
Base salary $24.50 per hour. Eligible for an annual incentive plan and a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, basic term life, AD&D, short‑term and long‑term disability, EAP, 401(k) retirement plan, PTO, and paid holidays.
