Job Overview

Power the heartbeat of industrial innovation. At Ingersoll Rand – Industrial Technologies & Services (ITS), we deliver engineered solutions supporting critical operations across air, gas, fluid, and material handling systems. We are seeking an Inventory Control Supervisor with proven experience leading direct reports in a discrete industrial manufacturing environment where engineered components, machined parts, and multi-level assemblies are produced and managed.

This role owns inventory integrity across a complex materials landscape—far beyond high-volume consumables.

This is a hands‑on leader role at the center of plant operations, responsible for driving inventory accuracy across raw materials, work‑in‑process, and finished assemblies. You will supervise daily inventory activities, enforce standard work, and ensure SAP transactional discipline, maintaining tight alignment between physical inventory and system data. Success in this role requires strong capability in part traceability, revision control, and material flow within an engineered product environment, along with the ability to lead, develop, and hold a team accountable to performance standards.

As the steward of inventory accuracy, you will oversee cycle count programs, lead discrepancy investigations, and drive root‑cause and corrective actions to resolution. You will ensure audit readiness, reinforce internal controls, and deliver clear, consistent KPI reporting.

If you thrive in an environment where precision matters, complexity is the norm, and leadership drives results, this is your opportunity to make a measurable impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead inventory control activities across raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and MRO inventory.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliation, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Apply IR Excellence (IRX) and continuous improvement principles to improve material flow and efficiency.
  • Develop, enhance, and standardize inventory control processes to improve accuracy, and compliance across manufacturing operations.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Production, Scheduling, Purchasing, and Shipping.
  • Analyze inventory KPIs including turns, shortages, and variances.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and EHS standards.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members while fostering accountability and engagement.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience in inventory control / materials management in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • 3+ years of experience with inventory control audits.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising and leading team members who are direct reports.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with SAP.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a physical inventory.
Core Competencies
  • Supervisory leadership with a self‑directed, team‑focused approach.
  • Inventory control, material management, and inventory accuracy governance.
  • Process development, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Data analysis, root cause investigation, and problem resolution.
  • Strong command of inventory control methodologies, including cycle counting, ABC classification, and FIFO/LIFO principles.
  • Proactive communicator skilled in cross‑functional collaboration across Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferences
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or related field.
  • 3+ years of SAP experience in IM, MM, and WM.
Travel & Work Arrangements
  • Onsite in Alsip, IL.
