Food Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

Job Overview

Position:
Vertical‑Form‑Fill‑Seal (VFFS) Machine Operator
Shift: 10‑hour, 2nd/Night shift (Monday‑Thursday)

• Perform startup checks and machine setup each shift and conduct testing procedures to ensure optimal performance.
• Log results electronically by hour against set efficiency targets.
• Ensure all partial pallets, bags, and containers are available and accessible.
• Conduct front‑line preventative maintenance and routine adjustments, calibrations on VFFS machines.
• Monitor product quality against work instructions and maintain packaging standards.
• Operate, assemble, disassemble, change‑over, and adjust vertical form‑fill‑seal equipment to meet finished pouch specifications and production requirements.
• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect packaging equipment using designated cleaning chemicals and documented procedures.
• Adhere to GMP, sanitary requirements, food safety, safety, and standardized work procedures to prevent cross‑contamination.
• Lock‑out equipment before cleaning or major adjustments to protect operators from injury.
• Identify equipment failures or problems, perform minor troubleshooting, part replacement, and maintenance; report need for repair or maintenance.
• Navigate SAP to learn and complete required system functions.
• Verify that material and packaging meet customer and company specifications according to work instructions.
• Maintain housekeeping in the work area, cleaning machines before and after each shift.

• High School Diploma desired.
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or machine operator role.
• Mechanical and troubleshooting skills specific to VFFS baggers.
• Strong written and oral communication to interpret written instructions and work procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems on VFFS baggers and operate two baggers simultaneously.
• Understanding of food standards and allergens related to machine operations.
• Proactive approach to tasks, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Competence with computer functions relevant to the position.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to plan and follow schedules.

• Must stand continuously during the shift and attend to machinery issues.
• Walk, stand, lift, bend, and reach for blocks and equipment throughout the production run.
• Lift up to 25 pounds and move items over short distances.
• Climb ladders and stairs across multiple floors within the manufacturing facility.
• Work in a fast‑paced warehouse setting with frequent interaction with machinery.
