Trillium Construction is now seeking a Fabrication Shop Manager / Working Foreman for full-time work in Alsip, IL!

Pay rate is $38.00 - $45.00 per hour (Based on Experience).

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Manager / Working Foreman to lead daily shop operations while actively participating in fabrication and machining activities. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong background in manufacturing, metal fabrication, shop management, and manual machining.

This individual will serve as the primary point of contact between the shop floor, vendors, suppliers, and company management to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee daily fabrication shop operations.
  • Lead by example as a working foreman, actively assisting with fabrication, machining, assembly, and production activities as needed.
  • Operate and maintain manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, and other shop equipment.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate workflow to meet production deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Supervise shop personnel, assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training when necessary.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while enforcing all safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate material purchasing and communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain adequate stock of raw materials, consumables, tooling, and shop supplies.
  • Track jobs, production schedules, and material usage using computer-based systems and software.
  • Review drawings, work orders, specifications, and fabrication requirements to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform quality inspections and troubleshoot fabrication, machining, and production issues.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with estimating material requirements, labor needs, and production timelines.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and leadership skills, be comfortable operating manual machine tools and fabrication equipment, and have the ability to effectively manage production schedules, inventory, purchasing, and personnel.
