Food Machine Operator

Job Overview

Menasha Corporation is hiring a Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) Machine Operator to maintain, control, and operate VFFS machines and equipment in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The operator is responsible for ensuring optimal machine performance, product quality, safety, and sanitation throughout each shift.

• Perform startup checks and machine setup before each shift, and conduct testing procedures to ensure machines operate optimally.
• Log hourly results electronically against set efficiency targets.
• Maintain and secure partial pallets, bags, and containers for production runs.
• Execute front‑line preventative maintenance and routine adjustments/calibrations on VFFS machines.
• Monitor packaged products to ensure they meet quality standards and provided work instructions.
• Set up, disassemble, change over, operate, monitor, and adjust VFFS equipment to meet finished pouch specifications.
• Disassemble, clean, and sanitize packaging equipment following documented safety and cleaning procedures.
• Adhere to GMP, sanitary requirements, food safety, and standardized work procedures to prevent cross‑contamination.
• Implement equipment lockout procedures before cleaning or repair that exposes employees to injury.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures or problems, perform minor troubleshooting, part replacement, and maintenance.
• Report equipment repair or maintenance needs promptly.
• Navigate SAP and other computer systems essential to the role.
• Ensure all material and packaging meet customer and company specifications.
• Maintain housekeeping, cleaning, and safety compliance before, during, and after each shift.

• High School Diploma (desired).
• Three years of experience in a manufacturing or machine operator position.
• Mechanical and troubleshooting abilities, especially with VFFS baggers.
• Ability to run and manage two baggers simultaneously.
• Understanding of food standards and allergens related to machine operations.
• Proactive, self‑motivated, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow schedules.
• Computer proficiency related to job functions.

• Work in a fast‑paced environment, standing for the duration of each shift.
• Walk, stand, lift up to 25 lbs, bend, reach below shoulder level, pull, push, and climb ladders.
• Operate within a production warehouse setting, including frequent walking and standing.

Hourly rate of $24.50, with eligibility for an annual incentive plan and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, basic term life, AD&D, short‑term and long‑term disability, Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) retirement savings, PTO, and paid holidays.
