Job DimensionsThe Logistics Technician is responsible for monitoring the filtering, loading, and movement of different latex products to assigned tanks or trailers at the Alsip, IL facility; also responsible for receiving & shipping raw materials. This position reports directly to the Alsip Production Supervisor.
Activities- Manage filtration operation for latex products off multiple reactor lines.
- Load latex products into various containers for shipment to customers.
- Follow housekeeping and safety procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
-Responsible for unloading of deliveries at the warehouse dock. - Attend daily meetings and provide routine communication on the daily loading activities and associated production needs.
- Follow up these communications in writing, telephone or e-mail as needed.
- Routine use of a computer to communicate via e-mail, complete online training and other tasks as assigned.
- Work closely with the control room operator to maintain operations.
- Completes daily and weekend checklists, including daily inventory.
- Ensures workplace safety by conducting safety observations and reviews while adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
- Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
- Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
- Supports the site HES (Health and Environmental Safety) policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema, Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, Safe Start, etc.).
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma / GED required.
- One to three years’ warehousing or logistics experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while acting as a strong team member.
- Strong communication skills required.
- Previous forklift or powered industrial equipment license or certification is preferred.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at significant heights.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; both to carry and to lift overhead.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
