Utility Helper
As a Utility Helper, you will play a crucial role in supporting the production process by working safely around machine areas, handling materials, and ensuring the accuracy of inventory data. Your responsibilities will include operating overhead cranes and forklifts, packaging materials, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Responsibilities- Work safely at and around machine areas.
- Pull and move coils and skids within the warehouse.
- Operate an overhead crane and forklift.
- Band and package material according to customer specifications.
- Generate and place inventory tags on completed material.
- Accurately enter tag data into the computer system.
- Use precision tools such as tape measures and cutters.
- Maintain a clean and organized immediate work area.
- Cut cores for machine operators.
- Stage needed supplies for orders and handle finished skids, including weighing them for accuracy.
- Load material into machines and clean work areas.
- 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.
- Experience with forklifts.
- Proficiency in using computers.
- Experience in packaging, production line, and as a machine operator or assistant.
- Familiarity with hand tools, inspection processes, and inventory management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with tape measures and machine operating is a major plus.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a standard steel processing setting, which can be quite warm. The shop is clean and organized, with safety being a top priority. Workers are expected to wear steel-toed boots, long sleeves, and other provided personal protective equipment such as helmets, glasses, and earplugs. You will work closely with one operator and possibly another helper or two.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
