Responsibilities- Assist the Lead Driller with environmental drilling activities, including sonic drilling, Geoprobe/direct-push drilling, soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, well abandonment, grouting, and other related environmental field services.
- Operate company vehicles requiring a Class A CDL, including trucks, trailers, and equipment transport vehicles, in accordance with DOT regulations and company policy.
- Assist with loading, securing, transporting, unloading, and staging drilling equipment, tooling, supplies, materials, and support equipment.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of drilling sites, including positioning equipment, preparing tooling, managing hoses and rods, organizing materials, and maintaining safe access around the work area.
- Perform strenuous physical labor associated with drilling activities, including lifting, bending, climbing, carrying equipment, handling tooling, collecting samples, and supporting waste handling or remediation activities.
- Assist with operation of sonic drilling equipment, Geoprobe/direct-push equipment, and other drilling support equipment under the direction of the Lead Driller.
- Follow applicable safety rules, regulations, company policies, site‑specific health and safety plans, job safety analyses, SDS information, and PPE requirements.
- Assist with collection, labeling, handling, and documentation of soil, groundwater, and other environmental samples.
- Assist with well construction, well development, decontamination, abandonment, and site restoration activities.
- Perform routine inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and preventive maintenance on drilling rigs, vehicles, trailers, tooling, pumps, and support equipment.
- Identify and report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, spills, or irregularities to the Lead Driller or supervisor.
- Complete or assist with required field documentation, including DVIR inspection sheets, tailgate safety forms, daily logs, sample records, and equipment maintenance records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site, vehicle, and equipment area.
- Work cooperatively with the Lead Driller, project managers, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
- Travel to project sites as assigned, including out‑of‑town and overnight assignments.
- Maintain required licenses, certifications, and training necessary for the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Class A CDL required.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Ability to meet company insurability requirements required.
- Ability to comply with applicable DOT requirements, including medical certification and driver qualification standards, required.
- Experience operating or assisting with trucks, trailers, equipment hauling, or similar Class A CDL driving responsibilities required.
- Prior construction, environmental field services, drilling, remediation, excavation, utility, equipment operation, or related field labor experience required.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions required.
- Ability to travel for out‑of‑town assignments required.
- Prior environmental drilling experience preferred.
- Sonic drilling experience or exposure preferred.
- Geoprobe/direct-push drilling experience or exposure preferred.
- 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification strongly preferred.
- Experience assisting with soil sampling, groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, well abandonment, grouting, decontamination, or environmental remediation preferred.
- Experience operating skid loaders, mini‑excavators, forklifts, telehandlers, or similar support equipment preferred.
- Mechanical experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pumps, trailers, or drilling equipment preferred.
- Current or prior drilling license, apprenticeship, or ability to obtain state drilling apprenticeship/licensing where required preferred.
