Position Summary
The Tech
- Waste Removal position is responsible for the overall removal of all trash and waste in the hospital, maintaining a professional demeanor in accordance with the service excellence standards while interacting with patients, patients’ families (including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) and coworkers.
The Tech
- Waste Removal employee performs all waste removal duties across the hospital, ensuring sanitary conditions and compliance with infection control protocols. The role requires consistent interaction with patients, families, and staff, upholding a courteous and respectful attitude at all times.

Education:
Ability to understand and communicate in English both verbally and in writing; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to perform cleaning procedures in accordance with written guidelines after a two‑week on‑the‑job training.
Skills:
Ability to operate and use equipment provided by the department for waste removal.

- Standing/Walking:
Continuous; the employee remains on feet for the majority of the day. - Bending/Stooping:
Frequent; required for washing furniture, sweeping trash, and other cleaning tasks. - Lifting/Handling:
Occasional; ability to exert up to 100 pounds to move furniture and 50 pounds for equipment handling. - Carrying:
Frequent; push/pull motions when maneuvering cleaning carts, beds, and furniture. - Balancing:
Occasional; occasional ladder use required for high‑place cleaning. - Twisting/Turning:
Occasional required when moving carts and mopping. - Crouching/Stooping:
Frequent; necessary for cleaning/disinfecting tasks. - Kneeling:
Occasional; required for cleaning under equipment and beds. - Reaching:
Occasional for greater‑than‑shoulder height; frequent for shoulder‑height and lower areas. - Handling/Manual Dexterity:
Continuous; handling required during mopping and sweeping. - Speaking/Hearing/Seeing:
Continuous; must communicate with co‑workers and patients and see with or without correction within normal range.
