Position Summary

The Tech – Waste Removal is responsible for the overall removal of all trash and waste in the hospital, maintaining a professional demeanor in accordance with service‑excellence standards while interacting with patients, patients’ families, and coworkers.

• Remove all trash and waste throughout the hospital.

  Ability to understand and communicate in English both verbally and in writing. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Ability to perform cleaning procedures in accordance with written guidelines as acquired through two weeks of on‑the‑job training in the department.

  Ability to operate/use equipment provided by the department to facilitate the procedures performed.

• Standing/Walking:
  Continuous – worker on feet for majority of day.
• Bending/Stooping:
  Frequent – required for washing furniture, sweeping trash, emptying trash, cleaning showers and tubs, etc.

  Occasional – ability to exert 100 pounds to move furniture, up to 50 pounds to manipulate equipment, and up to 20 pounds to carry supplies.
• Carrying:
  Frequent – maneuvering cleaning cart, beds, furniture, and mopping.

  Occasional – use of ladders to reach high places.
• Twisting/Turning:
  Occasional – moving carts, mopping.
• Crouching/Stooping:
  Frequent – cleaning/disinfecting.

  Occasional – disinfecting/cleaning underneath equipment, beds, bathroom fixtures.
