Hours: 8 per day
Hourly Rate: $15.61 - $19.18 (depending on qualifications and experience)

The job of Custodian – Head Sweeper Elementary is to provide custodial services at the assigned site, ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff and visitors, performing special cleaning operations, preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events, supporting assigned custodians, and ensuring assignments are completed safely, properly, and on time.
Essential Functions- Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds) to maintain sanitation and safety.
- Delivers a variety of items (supplies, mail, packages, furniture) to distribute materials within the site.
- Distributes custodial supplies and equipment to custodial staff and storage locations.
- Lifts up to 80 pounds and may push/pull up to 150 pounds for site maintenance, material distribution, and safety.
- Maintains supplies and equipment (cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops) to ensure availability of custodial items.
- Oversees facility maintenance activities and assigned custodial personnel to ensure functions are performed efficiently and in compliance with site requirements and standards.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to convey or gather information required to perform job functions.
- Prepares written materials (supply requisitions, safety inspections, work orders, inventory records, timesheets) to document activities and communicate with administration.
- Prepares site for daily operations (opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways) to ensure facilities are operational and hazard‑free.
- Requisition s equipment, supplies, and materials to maintain availability of required items and complete jobs efficiently.
- Responds to immediate safety or operational concerns (facility damage, vandalism, alarms) to take appropriate action or notify personnel.
- Secures facilities and grounds (doors, gates, alarms, lights) to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and liability.
- Trains assigned personnel to develop professional trade and safety awareness skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Age 16 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job‑related experience required.
