Job

This position is responsible for the custodial maintenance of campus buildings and facilities. This position is designated by the University as Essential Personnel. Some overtime and weekend work may be required.

• Clean any assigned buildings, classrooms, restrooms, and drinking fountains.
• Dusts and cleans chalkboards, offices, and flat surfaces; washes windows, walls, glass doors, stairs, elevators, classroom equipment and any tile or carpeted surface; may work from a ladder
• polishes brass.
• Collects and empties trash.
• Washes all dirty or soiled cleaning towels and mops.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and shampoos carpets; wipes down upholstery to ensure cleanliness.
• Reports damaged structures and equipment; maintains entrance ways to buildings.
• Must be able to report to work on time and be dependable in attendance.
• Performs related work as required.
• All other duties assigned.

• Ability to work long hours at manual tasks.
• A current, valid driver's license or .
• Must be able to pass a background check.

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and tools used in custodial services.
• Knowledge of safe work practices.

• Ability to exercise care in exposure to chemical, mechanical, or electrical hazards.
• Ability to follow routine oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work long hours at manual tasks.
• Ability to work while intermittently standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching.
• Ability to frequently lift light.
• Ability to work in an office or stockroom, in a variety of college buildings, and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
• The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious disease, or irritant chemicals.
