Mainstream Living provides services designed to enhance opportunities, create success and fulfill dreams. This person shall ensure that all assigned facilities, vehicles, and equipment are maintained in a manner consistent with the standards of Mainstream Living and applicable regulatory bodies. Tasks include basic home/building upkeep, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, lawn care, landscaping, etc. All personnel are expected to promote a safe and welcoming, home‑like environment that inspires hope and supports members with their individual goals and aspirations.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent/HiSET/GED. Completion of a building trade program preferred.

Experience:

Home/building maintenance and upkeep.

Driving:
Valid driver’s license, legal driving privileges in the State of Iowa, and acceptance as an insurable driver with Mainstream Living’s underwriter.

Computer:
Basic data entry skills required.

Post hire:
Demonstrate competencies to complete internal training.

The Property Maintenance Specialist must safely use power tools, ladders, lawn equipment, and be familiar with proper safety procedures in electrical and construction environments. Excellent driving skills and the ability to drive large vans are required. Experience in home repairs, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and landscaping is necessary. Flexibility and willingness to travel are required.

This position is considered an essential health care worker position and may be required to work one‑on‑one with members to ensure their safety during emergencies.

• Provide maintenance and minor construction/remodeling to facilities including member homes and office buildings
• Paint facilities, provide lawn care and groundskeeping, and snow removal as assigned
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Begin tasks as scheduled and complete them in a timely manner
• Observe and report unsafe conditions
• Ensure safety of consumers and staff while working
• Respond to calls on MSL‑issued cell phone; prioritize and complete emergency maintenance issues
• Order and purchase supplies, materials, and equipment within budgetary constraints
• Record and submit time and expense by job
• Supervise/assist contractors’ work
• Prepare cost estimates
• Complete and turn in paperwork at regular intervals
• Be responsible and accountable for vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Keep equipment clean and well‑maintained
• Ensure member living environments and employee working environment are safe through immediate attention to safety issues and ongoing awareness of tools, scraps, items accessible during and after task completion
• Perform other duties as assigned

Monday–Friday 9 AM to 4 PM with potential for very limited evening or weekend duties for emergencies.
