The Facility Coordinator is responsible for preparing and caring for the building and grounds that Lutheran Church of Hope Ames worships in (a congregation under the mission, vision, values, and authority structure of Lutheran Church of Hope), under the direction of the Administrator and in cooperation with the Hope Ames Leadership Team.
Primary Functions- Working to provide a clean, functional, and organized experience for all guests and members at weekend services, weekday events, and any classes through:
- Setting up and tearing down for all programming, with guidance from ministry leader.
- Preparing and cleaning all commonly used spaces each day (hallways, bathrooms, etc.)
- On-site presence for all weekend services as well as large church events as needed.
- Obtaining facilities supplies for the building (toilet paper, trash bags, etc.).
- Maintaining and coordinating indoor maintenance for our building (switching lights, patching holes, etc.).
- Maintaining and coordinating outdoor maintenance for our building (mowing, watering, plants, snow removal etc.)
- Coordinating and staying on top of maintenance with vendors (HVAC, Pest Control, Trash company, etc.)
- Assisting with Sunday morning worship services through:
- Helping with set-up and tear-down for all weekend services.
- Seeking community and getting to know congregants.
- Serving on the safety & parking teams as needed.
- Maintaining a clean building at all times throughout Sunday morning worship so congregants feel welcome and at home.
- Other needs that arise throughout the year that include but are not limited to:
- Driving the Hope truck for offsite events or picking up items at other campuses
- Building set designs for events like VBS, Easter, & Christmas
- Responding to building alarms
- Make sure all parking lot and pavement is clear for all programming (ex. Snow removal)
With the support of the Campus Pastor and Leadership Team, the Facilities Coordinator will also:
- Support the mission, vision, values, and authority structure of Lutheran Church of Hope and the vision for multi-site ministry.
- Meet regularly with the administrator for debrief, feedback, leadership development and planning.
- Attend weekly Hope Ames staff meetings.
- Have a consistent presence at Hope Ames church-wide events (i.e. Christmas, Easter, Vacation Bible School, Kairos at the Campanile, large missions events, etc.) when necessary or as assigned.
- Adhere to Lutheran Church of Hope Staff Covenant for spiritual, personal and professional relationships and behavior.
- Strives to live a Christ-centered life, stemming from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective relationships and communication with church staff and ministries, volunteers, church members, and guests
- Arrives on time and works consistently until the end of the schedule workday/project
- Works independently and with confidence
- Demonstrates ability to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision
Education and Experience Required
- Possess Christ-centered, joy-filled passion for ministry which flows from a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Ability to identify daily cleaning needs and carry out the needed cleaning services
- Ability to see the need and meet the need
- Background in facility cleaning or construction with an ability to clean and maintain a facility with excellence
- High attention to detail, organization, and coordination of multiple tasks
- Ability to operate cleaning machines and to drive maintenance vehicles related to cleaning and maintenance
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform manual labor
- Ability to prioritize and boundary ministry with personal and family life.
- Ability to lead, coordinate and manage multiple tasks.
- Extremely people oriented, with a contagious spirit for service.

Pay and Benefits:
Commensurate with Position & Experience, based upon National Wage Survey(s) of Comparative Churches
