The  General Manager of Lumin Air  is fully responsible for the operational, commercial and strategic performance of Amsterdam’s most iconic rooftop bar and terrace. This role leads the entire Lumin Air team — floor and bar — and ensures that service, product quality, guest experience, commercial delivery and brand positioning are executed at the highest level, every day. As the driving force behind the venue, the GM ensures Lumin Air continues to innovate, inspire and outperform in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

Lumin Air is a world‑class, drink‑led destination with ever‑changing surroundings, premium mixology, and a refined food offering paired with standout service. As General Manager, you translate this concept into a consistently exceptional guest journey, strong financial results and a high‑performing, engaged team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Exceptional Guest Experience & On‑Floor Leadership

Lead the floor and bar operation with a hands‑on, visible presence, ensuring outstanding service delivery at all times.

Guarantee that every guest receives a warm welcome, prompt service, and high‑quality food & drink presentations aligned with the Lumin Air brand.

Anticipate guest needs, resolve issues decisively, and maintain strong guest loyalty through personalised engagement.

Ensure the team masters service standards, upselling techniques, guest recognition and allergy/dietary protocols.

Team Leadership & People Development

Lead, coach and develop the full Lumin Air team, including bar staff, supervisors and managers.

Build an inclusive, motivating and high‑performance culture, with clear expectations and continuous feedback.

Oversee recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, briefings, performance reviews and succession planning.

Collaborate closely with hotel departments to ensure seamless operations, communication and support.

Commercial, Financial & Operational Ownership

Take full responsibility for all financial performance metrics: revenue, labour management, cost control, forecasting and P&L delivery.

Drive commercial opportunities through pricing, menu engineering, upsell initiatives and capacity optimization.

Oversee inventory, stock control, purchasing and supplier relationships to ensure efficiency, accuracy and cost‑effectiveness.

Ensure all systems (POS, reporting, cash control) are used correctly and all compliance requirements are met.

Food, Drink & Supplier Management

Oversee the full drink concept, including cocktail development, bar quality, product consistency and innovation.

Supervise the food offering in partnership with the culinary team, ensuring alignment with concept, quality and guest expectations.

Manage supplier partnerships to maximize added value, co‑marketing opportunities, training, activations and product visibility.

Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activity and guest preferences, ensuring Lumin Air remains a trend‑setting venue.

Brand, Marketing & Activation Ownership

Lead the annual and seasonal marketing and activation calendar, ensuring the venue stays “live and kicking” throughout the year.

Maintain a strong presence on relevant channels, partnering with Marketing & PR to drive reach, brand visibility and guest traffic.

Conceptualize and execute successful events, promotions and brand partnerships that strengthen Lumin Air’s market positioning.

Ensure all branding, storytelling, visuals and experiences match the elevated identity of Lumin Air.

Compliance, Standards & Daily Essentials

Ensure full compliance with health, safety, hygiene and licensing regulations at all times.

Maintain venue condition, cleanliness and atmosphere to the highest standards.

Oversee opening and closing procedures, reporting, reconciliations and operational checklists.
