Sun-Wed, 6am-4:30pm. All shifts with a 1/2‑hour meal period.

Employees hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step. Advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Position OverviewThe primary purpose of this position is to maintain the Municipality of Anchorage park land and facilities in a safe and usable condition for the public to enjoy. Responsibilities include routine park maintenance under general supervision, leading Parks Caretaker I positions to clean up illegal camps and handle personal belongings as needed, and focus on homeless camp cleanup. Tasks involve removing trash, debris, and waste to restore municipal property to usable conditions, disposing of removed articles safely and sanitarily, and performing other duties such as litter collection, snow and ice removal, trail maintenance, and general grounds and facility cleaning and repair.
The role requires independent work, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to direct lower‑level staff on projects or daily tasks. Additional duties are assigned as needed.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- One (1) year experience as a Parks Caretaker I or equivalent
- Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record at the time of hire
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative
- Ability to direct the work of lower‑level staff on projects or daily basis
All required certifications and/or licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.

The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
