Job Overview
The College of Arts & Sciences Fine Arts Building is recruiting student Event Support Assistants. Student assistants will work on campus on an as‑needed basis during the fall and spring semesters, primarily in the evening and on weekends, with the possibility of additional work in the summers.
Responsibilities- Ensure that events within the Fine Arts Building operate smoothly both in front‑of‑house and behind‑the‑scenes.
- Front‑of‑house duties include ticket sales, patron attendance tracking, usher orientation and coordination, enforcement of theater policies such as seating or food‑and‑beverage rules, maintaining a clean and secure house and lobby, and answering general questions from patrons and visitors.
- Back‑of‑house duties include operating sound, lighting, recording, and video equipment; videotaping events for building departments and resident organizations; and troubleshooting level‑one audio/visual needs in building classrooms.
- Work independently, follow detailed instructions, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly and positively with students, staff, faculty, clients, and patrons.
- Dependable and able to work assigned hours, including weekend and evening shifts; lift up to 50 lbs; work in high or tight spaces; and maneuver small flights of stairs.
- Enrollment in the University of Alaska system. Either:
- (A) Current enrollment with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester.
- (B) Enrollment in the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and a plan to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester.
- (C) A newly enrolled student with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in high, tight spaces and small flights of stairs.
Location:
University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska.
Part‑time, Student Assistant 2 position with a minimum pay of $14.96 per hour.
This is a pooled position; applications are reviewed as needed. Submission of an application does not guarantee a review or a job offer.
