Custodian evenings

Overview

Salary range: $19.50 per hour. Phillips Academy seeks an evening custodian to clean and maintain Academy buildings by performing routine and specialized cleaning of academic and non-academic spaces and maintain a clean, safe, sanitary and attractive environment.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with overtime as required.

• Sweep, mop, dust or wash furniture, vacuum floors and surfaces, and restock restroom and kitchen areas.
• Sanitize bathroom surfaces and fixtures; maintain cleanliness of food handling areas.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport to designated pickup points.
• Strip, wax and burnish floors using power floor machines; operate heavy-duty wet pickup machines to remove liquids from floor surfaces.

• Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle for on-campus transportation, and ability to pass a full background check.
• Ability to work well with the general school community and perform all custodial tasks.
• Flexibility to respond to changing and/or short-notice custodial service requirements.
• Prior floor care and cleaning experience preferred.
• English language proficiency sufficient to carry out duties.

When emergencies or extreme weather conditions occur, the functions of this job may be deemed essential, and the employee must report to work as required by the supervisor. The supervisor will inform the employee when the functions are essential.
