Custodian/Maintenance Utility - Northeast Elementary
The Custodian/Maintenance Utility position is responsible for ensuring district facilities are clean, organized, and safe. This role involves a range of cleaning, maintenance, and repair tasks to support daily operations, special events, seasonal projects, and emergency needs. Collaboration with the custodial team, maintenance staff, and building personnel is essential to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the community.
Responsibilities- Perform facility cleaning: classrooms, restrooms, gyms, cafeteria, offices, pools, sports fields, and multipurpose rooms.
- Clean and maintain school grounds, including mowing, snow removal, and landscape projects such as tree trimming, weed removal, and mulch installation.
- Replenish classroom and restroom supplies.
- Assist with general maintenance (e.g., furniture repair, belt replacement in equipment).
- Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for school events.
- Operate mowers, line‑trimmers, snow blowers, shovels, and district vehicles when required.
- Monitor work areas and secure buildings and grounds (doors, gates, alarms, lights).
- Respond to facility damage, vandalism, or emergencies and ensure safety protocol compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and custodial tasks through the district’s electronic work order system.
- Assist with special campus activities and functions and support district events.
- Communicate safety concerns and equipment use to staff, students, families, and community.
- Respond promptly to inquiries or concerns and direct them appropriately.
- Participate in professional development and training, demonstrate initiative, and work independently while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
- Other related duties as assigned, including participation in an on‑call rotation if required.
- High school diploma or GED, preferred.
- Ability to read basic operating instructions.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency.
- Possession of a valid Class C Non‑Commercial Driver’s License may be required for building assignment and successful completion of a motor vehicle record check.
- Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Successful candidates are subject to a post‑offer pre‑employment physical examination.
The position requires physical demands such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing, and walking. Conditions may include extreme temperatures, humidity, exposure to communicable diseases, and the need for emotional control under stress.

EvaluationJob performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with district policies and procedures.
Compensation and ScheduleHourly Wage: $18.50/hr.
Hours:
2:30 PM – 11:00 PM.
Reports To:
Operations and Custodial Manager.
Full‑Time.
