Field Operator (Associate, I, II) – Colonial Pipeline Company
We are seeking Field Operators to join our team and ensure the safe and efficient transportation of refined petroleum products.
Responsibilities- Participate in the Nex Gen Training Program to build technical skills and gain hands‑on experience.
- Monitor pipeline systems, perform inspections, launch and receive pipeline internal tools, and conduct minor maintenance activities.
- Effectively respond to abnormal operating conditions and perform tasks under 49 CFR 195.501(b).
- At higher levels, guide junior team members, troubleshoot operational issues, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution.
- Live within a 60‑minute commute of the designated work location.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and the ability to operate company and personal vehicles as required.
- Willingness to work 8‑ and 12‑hour rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, and occasional overtime.
- Strong work ethic, safety‑first mindset, and commitment to excellence.
- Ability to complete the Colonial Nex Op Program and obtain operator qualifications.
- For facilities with multiple operating consoles, qualification on two or more consoles may be required.
- Successful completion of Skill Set IV of the Nex Op Program.
- Commitment to corporate policies, procedures, and the core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence.
- Compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, including drug and alcohol testing as specified under 49 CFR Part 199.
- Associate or technical degree in a related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in pipeline operations.
- HAZWOPER training and/or forklift, fire training, or licensing.
- Experience with HMI systems and batch scheduling.
- Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push, and bend; lift and carry up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to work in non‑permit required confined spaces and traverse uneven terrain.
- Ability to climb stairs, vertical ladders up to 10 ft., and tank steps up to 60 ft. without assistance.
- Verbal communication by two‑way radio, especially during emergency response.
- Normal visual acuity, corrected to 20/40 or better, with color recognition for control panel indicators.
- Ability to detect the presence of petroleum products by smell.
- Work Indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions near refined petroleum products and heavy equipment.
- Base compensation range: $56,950 – $123,625, depending on location, experience, education, and qualifications.
