LEAD WORKER

Location:

Annapolis, MD

Core working hours:
Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with weekend and holiday shifts assigned on a rotating basis.

Hourly wage: $23.85.

Requirements:
Successful completion of criminal background check, drug screening, and maintenance of a valid government security clearance.

Personal vehicle:
May be required to transport persons‑served. Melwood transportation policies must be followed, with liability insurance in full force and effect while transporting for or on behalf of Melwood. Mileage reimbursement provided pursuant to the Travel policy.

Under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, performs cleaning tasks necessary to meet custodial contract specifications and assists in monitoring the custodial crews’ work.

• Sweeps and mops hallways, stairs and offices, etc.
• Empties waste and recycle containers and disposes in prescribed manner.
• Works various shifts with various supervisors according to contract specification.
• Clean restrooms, lockers, shower rooms and drinking fountains.
• Brunish and buffs floors with prescribed equipment. Strip and wax various floor surfaces.
• Cleans glass and interior windows.
• Low clean walls and other vertical and horizontal surfaces.
• Performs snow removal if required according to the contract specifications.
• Train employees on various tasks.
• Vacuum carpets, floors and rugs. Shampoo carpets with various types of equipment.
• Drive company vehicle to transport supplies and/or staff.
• Maintains issued equipment.
• Notifies supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks.
• Supervises and inspects activities on a daily basis while performing assigned tasks.
• Assumes responsibility of crew during the absence of the foreman.
• Performs all other duties assigned by Custodial Foreman.

The incumbent is supervised by the Custodial Foreman.

The incumbent must stand or walk 90% of the work time and sit 10%; lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach; communicate with supervisors and coworkers; maintain good vision with depth perception and ability to distinguish colors for safety reasons.

High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience in custodial work required. Valid driver's license required. Some supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with individuals with differing abilities preferred. Must be able to pass security clearance.
