This position will be working in Annapolis, MD at the United States Naval Academy. The core working hours are 5:30 - 10:30pm Tue & Fri, 6 - 11pm Mon/Wed/Thu, with weekend and holiday shifts assigned on a rotating basis. Starting pay is $21.16 per hour. This site is governed by a collective bargaining agreement. This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Floor care experience is required: strip and wax floors, use of buffers, shampooing of carpets. Supervisor experience is required: successfully management of custodial workers.
Key responsibilities include:
sweeping and mopping hallways, stairs and offices; emptying tenants' waste baskets and disposing the trash in prescribed manner; dusting horizontal surfaces; cleaning bathrooms; waxing and buffing floors with prescribed buffers; cleaning glass and windows; washing walls and other vertical surfaces; performing snow removal if required by contract specifications; polishing kick panels, doorknobs and other designated fixtures; stripping and waxing floors; vacuuming rugs;
mixing cleaning solutions; maintaining issued equipment; notifying supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks; supervising activities of assigned workers on a temporary basis while performing own work; assuming responsibility of crew during the absence of the foreman; performing all other duties assigned by Custodial Foreman.
Physical qualifications include: ability to stand or walk 90% of the work time; ability to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment; ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach; good vision, with depth perception and ability to distinguish colors for safety reasons.
