Ansonia Public Schools Math Instructional Coach Elementary School - Grades (K-2)2026-27 School Year General Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, the Director of Math/Science Curriculum, and building administration, the Math Coach will work primarily with teachers to strengthen mathematics instruction and student achievement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coaching teachers in effective Tier I instructional strategies that support the development of strong numeracy skills, co‑teaching and modeling effective mathematics lessons, providing professional learning and ongoing instructional support to staff, and supporting the administration and implementation of district and state assessments.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematics and numeracy.
  • Provide instructional support to teachers and students, including but not limited to modeling and coaching teachers in the development and implementation of high-quality whole-class, small-group, and individualized mathematics instruction, as well as providing direct instruction to students when appropriate.
  • Analyze student performance on district and summative assessments to provide meaningful feedback and guidance to staff, students, parents, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement mathematics-based instructional strategies designed to increase student achievement.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to individual teachers and instructional teams in the implementation of effective mathematics practices and improvement strategies.
  • Assist teachers in integrating and differentiating mathematics instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Provide consultation and guidance through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Develop, facilitate, and support professional learning opportunities for staff.
  • Provide instructional guidance to educational support personnel who work with students and teachers in the classroom.
  • Support the ongoing evaluation and assessment of the school and district mathematics program.
  • Serve as a mathematics resource for administrators, teachers, educational support personnel, students, and families.
  • Contribute to school and district curriculum planning through participation on curriculum development and/or planning committees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the District Math Director, building administration, and/or Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of Ansonia Public Schools curriculum, policies, procedures, and effective instructional practices; thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process, particularly as it relates to mathematics instruction and student achievement; knowledge of effective strategies for integrating and differentiating curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners; ability to use assessment and diagnostic data to identify student needs, inform instruction, and support instructional decision‑making;

ability to provide instructional support that reflects multiple perspectives and culturally responsive practices; ability to effectively integrate technology into curriculum, instruction, and assessment; ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, central office personnel, school‑based staff, educational support personnel, students, families, and community members; ability to coach, support, and provide constructive feedback to teachers and instructional teams; excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building…
