Job Description
Job Title: Building Manager (Custodian)
Department: Four Peaks Elementary School
Reports To: Facilities Director / Site Principal
FLSA Status: Nonexempt - At-Will Position
Position Status: Full Time Position, 12 Month Calendar (260/261 Days per Year)
Salary: $20.50 - $24.50; additional Professional Growth monies may be awarded for earned college credit (official transcripts required)
SUMMARYMaintains the general safety, appearance and upkeep for assigned site or department by performing the following duties. Custodial experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Cleans and maintains building(s) and grounds areas.
- Cleans offices, lobby, halls, restrooms, sidewalks and other areas. Moves furniture and equipment for cleaning.
- Sweeps, dusts, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Washes windows, walls, woodwork, and equipment in all-purpose rooms and office spaces.
- Empties trash and garbage containers.
- Sets schedule for Custodians' assignments to buildings (if applicable).
- Sets standards of cleanliness and responsibility.
- Operates cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Properly uses chemicals for maintenance and cleaning.
- Performs minor repair and maintenance work (e.g., replaces air conditioner filters).
- Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing (drinking fountains, faucets, flush valves, etc.), electrical wiring, replacing light bulbs, tubes and ballasts, and other related maintenance activities.
- Notifies supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment or contacts District Maintenance Department for extensive repairs.
- Supervises and keeps custodial crew running efficiently (if applicable).
- Sets up for special events.
- Keeps custodial closets clean and orderly.

Valid AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card with IVP number.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of supervisors or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
