What does a Silvi Materials Assets and Environmental Tech do?
The Assets & Environmental Tech is responsible for assigned aspects of assets and environmental concerns for assigned plants. This role is a strategic partner in achieving departmental initiatives to maintain an industry-leading fleet and environmental program. This position reports to the Assets and Environmental Manager. Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities- Visit and inspect primary assigned plants daily. Primary plants are 1, 2 and 3; secondary at plant
4. Assist with other plants as assigned. Diagnose and correct plant, truck or environmental concerns with minimal impact on production. - Monitor that all plants are greased, oiled, and lubricated properly each week. Ensure all trucks are inspected daily and greased weekly.
- Escalate issues to Asset Manager immediately as needed. Coordinate with approved vendors to accomplish services.
- Pick up and deliver parts from approved vendors to expedite repairs. Take drivers to and from shops to expedite repairs.
- Assist third-party vendors with annual stormwater preparations, upkeep and engineer inspections. Keep vessel inspections up to date. Keep backflow prevention inspections up to date.
- Receive new mixer trucks, process them through PDI service, and perform internal tasks to place them into service. Coordinate and oversee installation, removal, or transportation of all machinery and equipment.
- Ensure the management and optimal level of spare parts; order replacement parts as needed. Oversee plant grounds for security, lighting, landscaping, and safety.
- Responsible for the physical security of all assigned assets. Ensure TCO trucks are clean and ready for pickup.
- Assist in updating, renewing and distributing DMV, DOT, DOR, FMCSA regulated licenses, tags, fees, stickers, etc. Maintain DVIR log supply and assist with proper use of DVIRs; facilitate disposal of all DVIRs after 90 days.
- Environmental: address issues affecting environmental compliance with local, state, and federal rules; monitor discharges and collect samples when appropriate; monitor storm water controls and air quality; maintain crash carts stocked and ready for service.
- General: communicate daily with Assets and Environmental Manager; provide a weekly log of activities every Friday; coordinate with production teams regarding asset availability; maintain company vehicle and equipment; assist with Cap Ex projects; support other departments as needed.
- Environmental Conditions:
work in all environmental, temperature, and weather conditions; workday length varies by assignment and weather.
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to work 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with flexibility for outside and overtime hours as needed
- High school education or equivalent required; college education preferred
- Excellent and clear communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Well-organized with strong customer service skills
- Dispatching experience is a plus
- Experience in the concrete/construction industry is a plus
