EVS Aide / Janitor Hospital Environment (Apple Valley)

This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout a hospital and its associated facilities. You will clean patient rooms, common areas, and clinical spaces, handle trash and linen, and perform basic floor care. The position requires comfort working in a healthcare setting and delivering friendly, responsive service to patients, visitors, and staff.

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms after discharges, including beds, furniture, surfaces, and fixtures.
• Clean and maintain patient bathrooms, ensuring all surfaces, toilets, sinks, and floors are thoroughly sanitized.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping floors, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down high-touch surfaces.
• Handle trash removal from patient rooms, common areas, and designated collection points, following proper disposal procedures.
• Collect, transport, and assist with laundry and linen handling as needed, ensuring clean items are properly stocked.
• Provide environmental services support in a hospital setting that may include exposure to bodily fluids such as blood, urine, and vomit, following appropriate safety and sanitation protocols.
• Receive training in floor care techniques including stripping, buffing, and waxing floors, and apply these skills to maintain floor appearance and safety.
• Work cooperatively with nurses and other clinical staff to support patient care needs through timely and thorough cleaning.
• In a porter capacity, clean and maintain common areas such as lobbies, elevators, hallways, and conference spaces.
• Read, interpret, and complete work orders for tasks such as trash removal, spill cleanup, and special cleaning requests.
• Ensure all assigned areas meet established cleanliness and sanitation standards, with particular attention to high-traffic and high-risk zones.
• Maintain a strong customer service focus when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff, responding promptly to requests.
• Follow all hospital policies and procedures related to environmental services, safety, and infection control.
• Remain active and moving throughout the shift, staying productive without direct, continuous supervision.
• Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and correctly, reporting any issues or maintenance needs promptly.

• Customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Strong customer service skills, including responsiveness and a helpful attitude.
• Ability to perform housekeeping and janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and general cleaning.
• Comfort working in a hospital environment, including areas where exposure to bodily fluids (blood, urine, vomit, etc.) may occur.
• English speaking skills to communicate effectively with staff and understand instructions and work orders.
• Ability to stay busy and self-motivated throughout the shift, maintaining productivity without constant supervision.
• Capacity to work in an extremely fast-paced department and manage multiple cleaning tasks efficiently.
• Willingness to perform physical labor, including standing and walking for the entire shift, and handling cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and written instructions for cleaning and maintenance tasks.

• Approximately 1 year of high-volume cleaning experience in environments such as hospitals, hotels, schools and universities, office buildings, sports arenas, or amusement parks is preferred but not required.
• Experience in housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or environmental services roles.
• Background in general labor, sanitation, or waste management.
• Experience in hospitality or arena settings where high customer traffic and service standards are common.
• Familiarity with barista, military, or general production roles that demonstrate discipline, reliability, and strong work ethic.
• Experience with specific tasks such as trash removal, sanitizing surfaces, buffing floors, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Ability to adapt to different facility types, including medical office buildings and conference centers.
• Comfort using cleaning tools and equipment for floor care, sanitation, and waste handling.
