Equipment Cleaner

Position Overview

The Equipment Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy, inviting fitness center. Daily cleaning of equipment and environment positively affects equipment safety and functionality. Standard surface cleaning practices are employed.

• Arrive on time, ready for work in proper attire (Uniform tee‑shirts issued) and operate the time keeping system.
• Maintain a neat, orderly supplies closet; refill inventory or request additional supplies as necessary.
• Understand and demonstrate which cleaning solutions to use on which surfaces; do not mix solutions on the same cleaning cloth or in spray bottles.
• Daily clean all touched surfaces on all equipment (e.g., upholstered pads, hand grips, touch pads/screens) and record progress on the checklist.
• Daily clean all specified loose equipment such as medicine balls, floor pads, etc. as noted on the checklist.
• Daily select 5‑6 pieces for detail cleaning such that all are detail cleaned monthly; use the checklist to communicate progress.
• As necessary refill solution bottles and towel dispensers throughout your work area.
• Safely operate freight elevator and laundry washer/dryer to wash rags and refill jugs.
• In an emergency, exit the building and find your supervisor or other staff at the safe meeting location.
• Meet routinely with your supervisor for performance evaluations.
• Report observed failures of exercise equipment (e.g., torn upholstery, broken/damaged unsafe equipment).
• Refer patron assistance requests to other staff.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

• High School or equivalent education.
• Ability to kneel, squat, bend, and stretch to reach surfaces; lift up to 45 lbs.
