Full-Time Maintenance Foreman (40 Hours per Week) Job Description

Marathon Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corporation (MMNPHC) is seeking a motivated, dependable, and experienced Maintenance Foreman to oversee the maintenance and repair of our growing housing portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining 130 residential units, consisting of 68 apartment units in four buildings, 12 rowhouse units in two buildings, and a newly constructed 50-unit apartment building.

Reporting directly to the Property Manager, the Maintenance Foreman will provide hands‑on maintenance services while coordinating contractors, supervising maintenance staff, and ensuring all properties are safe, functional, and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • General building maintenance and repairs;
  • Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, and basic HVAC troubleshooting within the scope of the position;
  • Completing maintenance work orders and unit turnovers in a timely manner;
  • Conducting routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and mechanical systems;
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractors and service providers;
  • Supervising maintenance staff;
  • Performing seasonal maintenance, including snow removal and lawn care;
  • Maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment;
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety legislation and Corporation policies;
  • Maintaining maintenance records, inspection logs, and reports;
  • Participating in an on‑call rotation for emergency maintenance response.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • High school diploma (trades certification considered an asset);
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of residential or property maintenance experience;
  • Experience supervising staff or leading maintenance crews;
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance, construction practices, and general building systems;
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (email and work order systems);
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (ability to tow a trailer is considered an asset);
  • Successful Criminal Record Check.

Experience working in social housing or the non‑profit sector is considered an asset.
