Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Operates and maintains the City's wastewater treatment plant and pumping facilities to ensure all Federal, State and City requirements are met.
Responsibilities- Assist with all repairs, projects and preventative maintenance of all machinery.
- Must be able to verbally communicate with supervisor, while supervisor is in confined spaces, such as 20' to 60' dry wells, to be able to understand, retrieve and send up and down the correct tools.
- Must be able to inspect all pumps, gauges, and wastewater treatment equipment, listening, looking and smelling for malfunctions and leaks; diagnose needed repairs; perform maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Perform laboratory testing of wastewater both influent and effluent; perform other tests as required by the treatment plant permit.
- Maintain a variety of reports, logs, meters and charts on a daily basis; maintain parts inventory.
- Monitor treatment plant SCADA system to ensure proper operation of the plant; perform daily plant checks to discover and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
- Must be able to work without supervision; must be able to work "on-call" if needed and fill in on other shifts if needed.
- Assist with grounds maintenance including mowing, weed eating, edging and watering.
- Assist personnel at the Compost Facility when needed.
- Assist plant mechanic when needed.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Oklahoma driver license.
- Possess or ability to obtain within 12 months a Class DWaste
Water Works Operator license.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with supervisors, peers, salesmen and suppliers, both verbally and in written form; must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be organized, efficient, creative and capable of implementing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office software and SCADA programs.

- Policies and procedures relevant to Public Utilities are understood, followed, and modeled for other employees.
- Effective relations exist with co‑workers as well as with the public and complaints are resolved in a timely manner.
- The City’s professional reputation is maintained.
This job has been classified as a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. In this position, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, which might include random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening.
Possession of a Medical Marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for Marijuana.
