- Janitor Job Description Summary of Job Description

This position requires the employee to perform custodial and simple maintenance work. The role includes cleaning tasks, operation of various cleaning equipment, and performing related maintenance duties within established procedures.

• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
• Pass state and federal fingerprint screening to obtain an AZ IVP card
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and training
• Ability to complete training and testing within the first 90 days of employment
• Completion of Safe Environment Training and signing the Code of Conduct

Custodial:

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, and polish floors with floor machine as needed
• Assist in setting up multipurpose rooms and courtyards for functions, including rearranging cafeteria tables and chairs
• Move furniture when cleaning classrooms
• Cleans windows, doors, and restrooms (floors, sinks, toilet facilities) and replaces restroom supplies as needed
• Monitor daytime and/or evening activities, including campus security and alarm system operation

Maintenance:

• Perform carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks as appropriate based on experience, including assembling furniture and minor repairs that do not require external agencies
• Assist with inventory and other tasks assigned by the Principal or designee

• Follow oral and written directions accurately
• Caring for assigned areas and equipment with working knowledge of tools and materials
• Set work priorities and work independently when unsupervised
• Maintain punctuality, reliability, and cooperative relationships with colleagues
• Lift heavy items safely when necessary

Schedule: Often requires flexible hours (afternoons, evenings, or weekends) to accommodate parish events and school schedules.
