Position: Lakes Laborer (seasonal)
Location: Hot Springs Village

Summary

Under the direction of the Lakes Supervisor, performs entry‑level manual labor and maintenance duties in support of lake operations, facilities, and recreational amenities within Hot Springs Village. Assists Lakes Management staff with routine maintenance, cleanup, repairs, and general upkeep of lakes, boat ramps, docks, equipment, and related facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Regular attendance is required. May occasionally work outside normal business hours.
  • Perform general labor and maintenance duties as assigned by the Lakes Supervisor.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting equipment, materials, supplies, and tools.
  • Assist with lake cleanup activities, including the removal of debris and litter from lakes and shorelines.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and removal of buoys and lake markers.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties in the shop, storage areas, and work sites.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities.
  • Work cooperatively with contractors, volunteers, clubs, and other POA departments as directed.
  • Follow all POA policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • May be required to operate POA vehicles and equipment after appropriate training.
  • May be required to drive a POA or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job safely and successfully, an individual must be able to always perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with safety awareness. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Technician must have knowledge of boating operations and maintenance. Ability to pay attention‑to‑detail while carrying out task‑in‑hand. Ability to look thoroughly at your work to identify and correct errors, spot, and improve weaknesses to achieve accuracy.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) minimum. Ability to use and operate heavy equipment is preferred. Experience in working with carpentry materials.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Requires a valid Arkansas drivers’ license and a clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
