The School Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional school environment. The role performs routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial support to ensure facilities, equipment, and grounds operate efficiently and meet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Facility Maintenance & Repairs – Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural systems within skill level; address work orders in a timely manner; conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failure.
- Custodial & Grounds Support – Assist with general cleaning duties as needed (e.g., spills, emergencies); maintain outdoor areas including mowing, trimming, and debris removal; set up and break down spaces for school events, meetings, and activities.
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure compliance with local, state, and district safety regulations; identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or needed repairs; maintain proper use and storage of tools, equipment, and chemicals; maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district positively.
- Equipment & Inventory – Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment; monitor inventory of supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
- Other Duties – Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Reasonable knowledge and skill level to work in a variety of trades.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Demonstrate effective customer service strategies to all district patrons.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently.
- CDL required or willing to obtain CDL.
- High School diploma or trade school degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
