Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Field/Service Technician
Location: Gentry
Job Summary
Assist with placement in service, monitoring, and isolation of plant auxiliary equipment systems and components. Communicate operating status with operators and supervisors. Perform semi‑skilled maintenance, operate equipment, support outages, and participate in continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities- Monitor and inspect all plant equipment for normal operation. Identify, record, and report abnormal conditions to the proper authority and communicate status during shift change.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment problems and document them using the tracking systems.
- Assist in preparing boilers, turbines, and auxiliaries for operation and removal from service.
- Perform routine cleaning of plant areas, tools, and equipment, and operate, clean and lubricate necessary equipment.
- Assist with isolation of plant equipment and placement/removal of clearance tags per company policy.
- Operate, regulate, adjust, clean and perform minor maintenance on power plant equipment such as pumps, piping, valves, and fittings.
- Perform routine operation and maintenance of basic water‑treating systems, including chemical control, routine effluent testing, chlorination, and lubrication.
- Assist in unloading, handling bulk products, collecting samples, operating sampling equipment, performing basic analytical tests, and preparing bulk chemical supplies to specified concentrations.
Education
:
High school diploma or GED;
Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, power plant technology or related technical degree. Minimum 2 years industrial maintenance/operations experience (3 years after 4 months, 4 years after 6 months).
Experience
:
Preferred operations experience in chemical, industrial, refinery or military environments.
License & Certifications
:
Valid State driver license; successful completion of POSS (POSS/MASS combination).
Other Requirements
:
- Physical abilities assessment required.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Daily long‑distance travel required to inspect remote equipment.
- Respond to callouts for outage and non‑outage work to meet business needs.
- Learn and comply with plant operating instructions, safety practices, and procedures; report unsafe conditions.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental guidelines.
- Use of tools and equipment applicable to duties.
- Read and interpret simple prints and specifications.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Professional conduct with employees, contractors, and others.
- Work inside confined spaces, elevated areas, and in hot or cold temperatures.
- Wear respirator when required.
- Training in firefighting, first aid, AED, and other emergency response programs.
On‑site at Flint Creek Power Plant, Gentry, Arkansas.
CompensationPlant Equipment Operator
- First 2 months: $30.31 per hour
- Next 4 months: $34.29 per hour
- After 6 months: $37.50 per hour
Compensation range: $30.31 – $37.50 per hour.
