Job Overview

Maintenance Lead performs all functions of a maintenance supervisor for a team of 10 to 12 hourly technicians, except payroll, clocking, and disciplinary activities. This is a development position to prepare an hourly team member to advance to a maintenance supervisor.

• Assist the Supervisor in coordinating daily responsibilities of the department, ensuring instructions are communicated to team members and carried out timely and correctly.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all equipment and company assets, adhering to Tyson safety programs and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Train and mentor technicians, evaluate skill development and documentation as part of ongoing skills training.
• Provide plant‑floor tactical direction for 10–12 hourly technicians, ensuring daily scheduled work is completed and documented correctly.
• Meet daily with supervisor and maintenance planner to review proposed work order schedule, provide feedback, and ensure proper assignment and prioritization based on plant need and team member skills.
• Coordinate activities of workers maintaining and repairing ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, water, and steam systems, and electrical components, and run SAP‑PM for daily maintenance reports.
• Evaluate reports to ensure timely completion and accurate documentation of work, downtime and material use; re‑prioritize current day work schedule as needed.
• Provide proper data entry and documentation feedback to technicians on SAP‑PM.
• Attend daily maintenance meetings, report why scheduled work was not completed, identify breakdowns and provide short and long‑term corrective actions.
• Provide feedback on major maintenance or project work relating to equipment and facilities that needs to be planned and scheduled.
• Work with refrigeration supervisor to perform maintenance evaluations and root cause problem elimination to prevent recurrence.
• Act as supervisor for the crew when the maintenance supervisor is absent.
• Work with PSM coordinator to ensure team members and facility comply with all aspects of the PSM program.
• Coordinate with maintenance planner and supervisor to ensure accuracy and completeness of work documentation and schedule maintenance activities.

• Minimum six months of maintenance/mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
• Experience operating SAP‑PM or a similar maintenance management system.
• Ability to train and mentor junior technicians and evaluate skill development.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
• Willingness and ability to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
