Maintenance Supervisor

Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for a direct-hire opportunity with a leading lumber manufacturing operation in Leola, Arkansas. This position is ideal for a seasoned maintenance professional with strong leadership skills and direct experience in the lumber or sawmill industry. The Maintenance Supervisor will lead maintenance and cleanup personnel, support equipment troubleshooting, coordinate preventive maintenance activities, manage departmental costs, and help develop a skilled and safety-focused maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance activities with the highest regard for employee safety, equipment reliability, production, and quality.
  • Supervise maintenance and cleanup personnel working across varying schedules.
  • Support troubleshooting of production equipment and machine centers alongside shift supervisors and maintenance personnel.
  • Plan and coordinate preventive and non-emergency maintenance activities, including PM routes and scheduled repairs.
  • Monitor equipment performance and help minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain and support sawmill equipment, including:
    • Debarkers
    • Gang edgers
    • Trimmers
    • Sorters
    • Stackers
    • Conveyors
    • Chippers
    • Blowers
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Pneumatic systems
  • Manage departmental maintenance costs while supporting efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate key maintenance performance metrics.
  • Create and plan equipment and process improvement projects.
  • Coordinate parts requirements and inventory needs with purchasing personnel.
  • Inspect completed maintenance work to ensure quality and reliability standards are met.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to apprentices and developing maintenance employees.
  • Effectively communicate department goals, expectations, priorities, and work instructions.
  • Manage employee scheduling, attendance, and day-to-day personnel issues.
  • Resolve conflicts and support a positive, accountable team environment.
  • Lead contractor safety activities and ensure compliance with facility requirements.
  • Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout procedures are followed.
  • Assist with and verify Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs), safety audits, and other safety initiatives.
  • Provide periodic weekend coverage as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous lumber, sawmill, or closely related wood-products industry experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience as a Journeyman Millwright or Journeyman Electrician.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance and maintenance planning practices.
  • Strong safety mindset with experience supporting LOTO and industrial safety procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple maintenance priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Two- or four-year degree preferred but not required.

  • $92,000–$115,000 annual base salary
